Hence, the straightforward averaging of the fluxes cannot provide meaningful information about the typical physical and dynamical conditions in the PBL. Figure 14 shows the mean annual fraction of the stably stratified PBL (SBL) in ERA-40 data.

The flux is computed from IGRA data at standard isobaric levels as H = ρc p (υT ) (positive direction in northward) component of the wind. , 2007].
